In the case of Cheryl Wilson, Special Administrator of the Estate of Leslie Wilson, Deceased vs. Amit Dande, M.D., and Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants, LLP filed in the Appellate Court of Illinois, Fifth District (Case No. 17-L-22), a judgment was delivered on February 20, 2024. The plaintiff alleged that the defendants' negligent evaluation and treatment led to Leslie Wilson's death.

Cheryl Wilson, a registered nurse and wife to the deceased, noticed her husband's deteriorating health condition in late June 2015. After several tests conducted by Dr. David Winograd, Les was referred to Dr. Amit Dande for further consultation. On August 3rd, while awaiting a heart catheterization procedure scheduled for August 11th by Dr. Dande, Les was found dead on their family farm.

The plaintiff claimed that Dr. Dande failed to adequately assess and treat Les's cardiac condition and did not instruct him properly about restricting his physical activities while awaiting the procedure. The lawsuit also held Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants liable for Dr. Dande's alleged negligence under vicarious liability.
