Sandberg, Phoenix & von Gontard hires new associates

Sandberg, Phoenix & von Gontard, P.C. announces the hiring of four new associates, Raven J. Akram, Fibbens A. Koranteng, Jesse Rochman and Michael S. Smith.

Akram received her law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law. She received her bachelor of science in public affairs from Indiana University. In 2007, she was the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award for Excellence in Public Service from Saint Louis University School of Law and the recipient of the Scovel Richardson Scholarship from the Mound City Bar Association. She received the Best Advocate Award in the Midwest Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition in 2008.

Koranteng received his law degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Law. He received his bachelor of science degree in computer and information science with a minor in business administration from William Woods University. He previously served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Nannette A. Baker of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District.

Rochman received his law degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law, graduating cum laude. He received his bachelor of science in business, majoring in accounting and finance, from Indiana University, Kelley Business School, where he graduated with high honors.

Smith received his law degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Law. He received his bachelor of science in political science, magna cum laude, from Central Missouri State University. In 2007, he received the Charles G. Young, Jr., Memorial Award for Best Work in Professional Responsibility and is a member of the Order of the Coif.

Earlier this year the firm also hired associates Apollo D. Carey, Clayton G. Kuhn, Lisa C. Langeneckert and Timothy J. O'Leary and appointed Philip J. Lading as a shareholder of the firm.

Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard was founded in 1979 and has approximately 70 attorneys. The firm provides full range legal services, including representation in the areas of health law, products liability defense, business litigation, estate planning, labor and employment law, financial institution law and business transactions and counseling.

The firm has offices in St. Louis, Edwardsville and Carbondale.
