Georgia man sues 66 corporations over asbestos exposure

A Georgia man diagnosed with mesothelioma has filed a lawsuit against 66 defendant corporations, alleging they failed to warn him about the dangers of working with and around asbestos.

Seals Glenn, Jr. claims he was employed from 1949 to 1994 as a carpenter's apprentice, deck hand, truck driver, laborer, fabricator and instructor at various locations throughout Illinois and Georgia.

Some of the defendants include, Bondex International, CBS, Ford Motor Company, General Electric, General Motors, John Crane, Owens-Illinois and Pfizer.

Glenn claims during the course of his employment, he inhaled, ingested or otherwise absorbed asbestos fibers emanating from products he was working with and around.

According to the lawsuit filed Aug. 15 in Madison County Circuit Court, Glenn was diagnosed with mesothelioma on April 28.

He is seeking damages in excess of $550,000 for for negligence, willful and wanton acts, conspiracy, and negligent spoliation of evidence among other allegations.

John Barnerd and Randy Cohn from SimmonsCooper in East Alton represent Glenn.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Court Judge Daniel Stack.
