Woman sues MCT over fall

7/21/2008 6:53 AM

A woman who tripped and fell while attempting to enter a Madison County Transit bus has filed a personal injury lawsuit, alleging MCT failed to provide a safe means of egress onto the bus.

Dicie Miller claims that on July 12, 2007, she was attempting to board a MCT bus on Clay Street in Collinsville when she fell and became injured.

Her lawsuit was filed June 30 in Madison County Circuit Court.

In court papers, Miller claims MCT negligently provided steps to enter the bus that were of irregular height, creating a hazard to passengers and failed to provide assistance to passengers entering the bus.

Miller says her fall caused injuries to her right foot and ankle that has and will continue to cause pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages.

She is seeking damages of less than $50,000.

Miller is represented by Samuel Mormino, Jr., of Alton.

The case is awaiting mandatory arbitration.
