A resident of a Mascoutah nursing home claims she was assaulted, battered and robbed of her wedding ring, according to a lawsuit filed July 27 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Pearl Hoerdt alleges the incident took place July 27, 2005, at Mar Ka Nursing Home, located at 201 South 10th St. in Mascoutah.

The suit claims the defendants, including corporate owner Community Care Centers, Inc. and several of its employees, "failed and refused to identify and treat (or cause to have treated) the injuries sustained by Mrs. Hoerdt, failed to record, investigate and notify the appropriate persons of said assault, battery and and robbery and otherwise failed to take appropriate and necessary actions required by applicable state and federal law."

Represented by David C. Nelson of Nelson & Nelson in Belleville, Hoerdt is seeking in excess of $400,000 in damages, as well as costs and attorneys' fees.
