Beverly Farms, doctor and nurses named in wrongful death suit

A seven-count wrongful death lawsuit was lodged against Beverly Farm Foundation in Godfrey, its nurses and Tanin Parich, M.D., claiming resident Michael Soliz was injured and died at the facility in November 2003.
Plaintiff Michelle Merced, administrator of Soliz's estate, filed the suit June 6 in Madison County Circuit Court. Seeking in excess of $350,000, Merced is represented by Richardson, Stasko, Boyd & Mack of Chicago.
Soliz was diagnosed with profound mental retardation, seizure disorder, cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia and hydrocephalus when he was admitted to Beverly Farms on Sept. 25, 1997.
The complaint does not name how Soliz was hurt or what injuries he sustained. But it does claim that the defendants failed to properly diagnose, examine, evaluate, monitor and treat Soliz.
"As a result of the death of the decedent, the plaintiff and the decedent's family have been deprived of the decedent's companionship," the complaint states.
The suit includes counts of negligence, violation of the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act and survival.
Elizabeth Allen, M.D. of Palos Heights, Ill., is the health care professional who concluded meritorious cause for the filing.
